Problem with Comet after-sale on a Beko freezer
We bought a Beko freezer (ZA90) from Comet last Sunday. I started it on Monday evening. On Tuesday morning the thermometer I had placed inside indicated a temperature below 0C but on Tuesday evening the temperature was back at 10C and on Thursday morning the freezer was back at room temperature despite the pump running all the time.
On Friday 14th, I phoned Beko's after sale service who told me that the after-sale was handled by Comet. I phoned Comet. After making me wait 10 minutes on the line, they told me that they could not come to service it before the 24th September (10 days later) and they could not give me any indications of the time at which their engineer would come!
So if you buy from Comet and ever need suport from their after-sale team, be ready to take a day off from work (they do not work on Saturdays)!
As the freezer never reached its design temperature of -17C, I found that I can claim that the product they sold me was not "Fit for the purpose for which I bought it" and according to http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/after_you_buy/know-your-rights/electrical/ the trader must either fix the problem or refund the goods.
I have contacted comet and they have 7 days to reply.
